Our beautiful San Diego drug and alcohol treatment center for women treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of substance misuse.
We treat each and every client who comes through the doors of our drug and alcohol treatment center with dignity, respect, and compassion. We see each woman as unique and understand that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t really fit all.
We believe that all women have the power and the strength necessary to achieve a rewarding and optimal life… we give you the tools to find the power and strength already within and harness it to create the life you want.
By focusing on the relationship between substance misuse and these deeper core issues, rather than looking at the substance problem as an isolated problem, our clients begin the resolve what sits beneath the misuse, moving toward a life of sustainable, long-term recovery.
The drug and alcohol treatment team at Haven Hills addresses the misuse of substances as a symptom of the underlying challenges that our clients have faced. While it is imperative that we engage in opportunities to explore how these substances have affected relationships, school, career, and overall quality of life, we must also come alongside those we are working with to explore the role substances have had in coping with trauma, grief and loss, issues surrounding self-worth, weight management, and family dynamics.
At Haven Hills Recovery, we provide a gender-specific community and a warm, healing environment that supports a sense of safety as your healing journey begins. We utilize trauma-informed care so that the women we treat who are struggling with addiction can fully experience compassion and support. We understand that many women with addiction histories have had complex negative experiences in their lifetimes, and we seek to help heal the true roots of addictive behavior.
We offer groups in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectic Behavioral Therapy) to help clients untangle their self-defeating thoughts and develop skills to challenge addictive thinking. We also provide Somatic Experiencing groups so that women can learn to understand their bodies, and use their bodies to help relieve tension, fear, anger, stress, and other stored emotion. Weekly relationship groups help recovering addicts explore their interpersonal dynamics and develop loving relationships with themselves. We also provide Psychodrama groups, which help clients find new and dynamic ways to express themselves, and Art Therapy groups, to help build the joyful and creative aspects of recovery.
Clients receive individualized treatment plans, and each client is paired with a primary therapist whose specializations best match her individual needs. At Haven Hills Recovery, we recognize that people suffering from pill addiction have likely been dealing with their disorder for a very long time and that often the underlying medical or psychiatric issues are authentic. Our board-certified psychiatrist will work carefully with you to determine the best course of action. We will make sure that your medications are necessary and appropriate and that the transition from abuse to medically necessary use is done safely and as comfortably as possible.
In addition to one-on-one therapy, psychiatric appointments, group therapy and peer support, women at Haven Hills Recovery also have consistent open access to staff to discuss needs and concerns. Restful sleep and a warm, secure home setting are also important parts of body-mind-spirit recovery, and our sober living environment provides the comfortable place for healing that women need.
It is through this integrated approach to recovery that we see long-lasting change occur.
We know that addiction takes a strong hold of your thoughts and behaviors and that creating a new way of being takes time. We provide an open-ended length of stay so that you do not experience a pressuring timeline as you prepare for a fulfilling, drug-free life.
